What's great about Cascade? We help students find the path that's right for them, whether that's on to college or career.

This year, late start Wednesdays at Cascade High School are College and Career shirt days. Staff and students can wear their college gear, and many of our awesome community partners are sharing shirts with our staff to also highlight local career opportunities for our students.

Assistant Principal Toni Wallisa (with a big thank you to Willamette Work Ready Program at Willamette Education Service District) handed out shirts to staff on Wednesday. One of the first was to Katie Tofflemire in our Fiscal Department—her son was part of an internship program at Cascade last year at RiverBend Materials, and now he has a job there!

As of Monday, all our kindergartners are here, and now we have all our Cascade students in class!

The Cascade Opportunity Center provides an opportunity for students that need something different than the normal school situation. The smaller setting and the personal relationships staff can build make all the difference!

Currently there are about 50 students in-person each day, and an additional 20 or so who are fully online. Those numbers will grow as the year goes on. With teachers, a math tutor, a counselor, and other opportunities, these students get the chance to thrive.

There's a new addition to our maintenance crew this year—a robot that draws the lines on our fields!

This equipment uses GPS technology to perfectly line the fields for soccer and football. The soccer field today took a little over 20 minutes, and it used to take our crew a full day to get it right!

Beyond athletics, we plan to use this to paint parking lot lines over the summer, and other things that will save time and money down the line.

On Wednesday and Thursday, auditions for the fall play "Steel Magnolias" took place at Cascade High School.

Drama teacher Allyson Arndt began with drama games to warm up the actors and help them settle into the space.

We had a real life example last week of the need for Suicide Awareness Prevention, thanks to the generous gift we received from The Matthew Unrein Memorial Foundation.

During Suicide Prevention Month, we want to highlight some of the signs people who are struggling with mental health may exhibit.
