Cascade Choirs

Cascade Choirs is a place for anyone that loves to sing.  We sing a wide variety of music from Classical to Pop and everything in between.  Our program is growing and we are actively looking for other students that want to join us on the way to becoming one of the best 4A choir programs in Oregon.  We have a place for everyone and welcome you to Cascade Choirs with open arms. Please read more about Cascade Choirs and what we are offering here at Cascade.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can reach out at any time to our choir director, Wendy Kivett, to schedule an audition. The class is solidified by the beginning of school and it is a year long commitment. It is best to audition before school is out for the previous school year.

  • Yes you can!

There are specific requirements that you must meet in order to letter, but many students achieve this goal.  You do not have to be a member of Cascaidans to letter, additional lettering information can be given upon request.

  • Most classes only have three concerts a year and one festival, during the school day.  There are many other optional after school activities but they are not required.  Cascadians has a much larger after school commitment level with group travel, singing the national anthem at local events, multiple concerts and festivals off campus, and more.

  • Absolutely not!

That's why our teacher is here, to teach you these things.  If you dream of being in Cascadians, you are strongly urged to take one of the other builder choirs before auditioning.

Classes

The Cascade Choir department includes students from 6th grade to 12th grade with four different choirs.

  • Beginning Choir
For 6th graders, which begins the 3rd week of each school year. The music department will visit your homerooms during the 2nd week of school to assist in sign-ups.
  • Symphonic Choir
For 7th and 8th graders, which generally has a minimum commitment of two trimesters to participate. This class does not require experience and is a great skill builder for anyone interested in the High School program. But if you just love to sing and want to try choir out, we would be thrilled to have you!
  • Concert Choir
For any 9th-12th grader looking for a place to use their voice, regardless of previous experience. We attend 1-2 festivals annually and are included in many choir department social activities hosted by our current choir council.
  • Cascadians
Auditions happen the previous year and up to the first day of school. We sing the National Anthem multiple times a year as a community outreach and sing at other community events like the Turner tree lighting. We participate in multiple festivals during the school year. Take one overnight trip a year, including opportunities like Disneyland, New York City, Seattle, and other PNW locations. This class requires a year-long commitment and can consist of additional rehearsals outside of class.
