Facilities Video #2—Turner Elementary

Did you know Turner Elementary School is more than 100 years old?

We've worked hard to expand and take care of the buildings over the years, but there are unique things to address with a historic building.

Our recent facility assessment took a close look at the condition and needs for Turner Elementary, and this video shares the highlights.

1st Grade Community Project at Turner Elementary

Mrs. McFerron's first grade class at Turner Elementary has been learning about what makes up a community. They started by finding themselves on a map, and then seeing the city of Turner and the State of Oregon.

Then, visitors from the community came to tell the class about what they did and what part they play in our community.

Now, students have created an entire community in the back of the classroom! Partners created their own models to make up a community: there's a school, police and fire departments, a farm, a gym, and so much more! You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

The annual Thanksgiving food drive at Cascade High School was a success! Ms. Bullock's AVID Class took the lead on this project, and today they delivered food boxes to be distributed to families in need.

We love how Cascade students and staff showed their generosity!

Prepare for Cold and Flu Season

We are going into the thick of Cold and Flu Season and have already had several cases of common contagious diseases reported.
Currently, Hand Foot and Mouth (HFM) disease is going around all of our schools, it is common in children under 5 years old, but anyone can get it. The disease is usually not serious but it is very contagious. There has been an increase in older children and adults getting it throughout the state. Most people get better on their own in 7 to 10 days. Here is what to look out for:
  • Fever (fever may subside and rash appears after)
  • Sore throat
  • Painful mouth sores that blister
  • Rash commonly found on the hands and feet
  • Our schools are already cleaning and disinfecting as much as possible.

I want to remind all student’s, staff, and families to please use standard precautions:
- Wash your hands and have kids wash their hands often - wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after toileting, coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose.
- Frequently clean and disinfect high contact surfaces in your home and work areas
- Avoid touching the face with unwashed hands, especially the eyes, nose, and mouth and avoid close contact with infected people.
The chart is a reference of guidelines for students and staff to be sent home, stay home and return to school.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Stay Healthy Everyone!

Respectfully,
