Mrs. Bielenbergs' and Mr. Tedrow's sixth-grade science classes at Cascade Junior High School recently completed a unit on ecology.
After diving deep into life cycles, ecosystem interactions, and the critical role of keystone species, students took their learning outdoors.
Students participated in the Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District's Salmon Watch field trip at Packsaddle Park. This provided valuable, hands-on experience, allowing them to examine riparian areas, test the water quality of the North Santiam River, and study salmon biology and aquatic invertebrates.
Students' final task was an Ecosystem Project where they creatively showcased everything they learned, connecting classroom concepts directly to the riverbank and beyond. You can
