Cascade to Qatar

Cascade to Qatar
Cascade High School has been awarded a travel grant to Qatar from Qatar Foundation International. This experience will provide a once in a lifetime experience to visit cultural, historical, and natural sites to deepen one’s understanding of a vibrant, exciting country. Qatar is considered a safe country to which to travel and has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders are encouraged to apply. Students who are selected for will be required to fulfill the following obligations: Approximate Travel dates: October 9th-14th, 2020.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a positive attitude and a willingness to engage in all opportunities presented. These excursions are fast paced, and we will be experiencing as much as possible in the time allowed. A demanding schedule is to be expected, and participants should be physically able to engage in a rigorous program. Maturity and a willingness to immerse oneself in another country and culture is essential. You must participate in all scheduled activities.

Each participant will be required to have his or her own funds for some meals, spending money, and gratuities. Once selected, a $100.00 non-refundable deposit must be made to ensure your placement and will be used as the gratuity for the guide and for gifts to present to our sister school. Refunds will only be provided in the event of a cancellation of the trip.

Participants must be able to get or must currently possess a United States passport.

All travelers will engage in a virtual classroom experience by completing a project with a sister school in Qatar. The virtual classroom will involve activities and assignments outside of school to be shared with Blyth Academy in Doha. We will visit this particular school and meet students involved in the project.

Participation in parent and student meetings to best prepare for the experience will be required. As part of the journey, both students and parents will receive information pertinent to the experience.

Plan to attend and participate in a community display about Qatar for the Spring Showcase, April 30th, 2020. This may include additional research and work completed outside of school.
